Abe Lincoln visits for Presidents' Day!

President Abe Lincoln (Winside Senior Colin Hansen) visited the Winside First Grade room in honor of Presidents' Day.  He read the book Abe Lincoln's Hat by Martha Brenner. Abe read about the important papers that he carried in his hat.  The First Graders wrote about what they would carry in the stovepipe hat if they had one of their own.  President Lincoln also gave each student a penny and a magnifying glass.  Using the magnifying glass, the boys and girls searched for the statue of Lincoln inside the Lincoln Memorial that appears on the penny. The class also created Lincoln log cabins using a slice of bread, pretzels, and peanut butter.  Log cabins never tasted so good!

This is good stuff!
