Mr. Messersmith recruits the Gingerbread Man to play basketball??? Looks like they are sealing the deal with a handshake!

We just hope there are no foxes in the basketball stands!

Guess what the Gingerbread Man left the boys and girls!  Gingerbread cookies to decorate!  Then each lucky student pretended he/she was the fox and then gobbled up the Gingerbread Man!

The First Graders uncover the identity of G.W.!

Here are more clues to help uncover the identity of Guess Who!

Savannah is holding a black bear while Brook has a talking dog.  Ryan has a can of frosting and Kortney has mini-M&Ms.  Josh has a Gingerbread boy and Keyfer has a Gingerbread girl.  Now remember previous clues included a red apron, a talking cow, and a spoon.  Who do you think G.W. (Guess Who) is?

No Elf on the Shelf but who is GUESS WHO?

The First Graders found this message on the board and wondered if this was Elf on the Shelf; however, upon further investigation they decided it was not Elf on the Shelf!  Follow the journey in pictures!
They opened the box and found this red cooking spoon that Zac is holding.  One of the guesses was that Guess Who is Santa Claus.  The boys and girls looked forward to the next clue!
The next clue was a red, white fur-trimmed apron which was modeled by Ms. Loetscher. Hmm....The first graders thought Guess Who was Mrs. Santa.  But then, the class received a text message from G.W. only revealing the gender of Guess Who.  Guess Who is a boy so now the class could narrow down some of their guesses.  That took Mrs. Santa out of the running!
The next clue was a cow magnet that really "mooed" and sounded just like a cow!

WHO, OH WHO, IS GUESS WHO?  Stayed tuned for further reports!

Craving a delicious, healthy snack? Read this blog!

Do you crave pizza tantalizing your taste buds but yet also yearn for a healthy snack that fuels your body?  Well, the first graders created just that treat!  And, as a bonus, it is easy to prepare (only 3 ingredients) and inexpensive! The boys and girls critiqued the pizza bites. This treat is low in sodium, no refined sugar, and includes healthy whole wheat. Protein from the dairy group and cereal from the grain group.  Best part is that the boys and girls thought it was delicious. They decided they could substitute different types of crackers for the shredded wheat.  Ms. Loetscher suggested half of a cherry tomato in place of the pizza sauce.  Let us know if you try this delectable snack and if you make any substitutions.  Happy snacking!

Quick Pizza Bites
  • Spoon sized shredded wheat
  • Quick Ragu pizza sauce
  • String mozzarella sticks

Ingredients:  Ragu quick pizza sauce, string mozzarella cheese, and spoon size shredded wheat

Cut string cheese into circles.
Spoon pizza sauce on shredded wheat piece.  Place string cheese circle on top.  Some creative first grade chefs also placed a dollop of pizza sauce on top of the string cheese.

Place in the microwave for 30 seconds.

Bon Appetit!
